Produced only in the best vintages, with a unique minerality and complexity.
Cuvée Clos Notre Dame is produced only in the best vintages. Rare and precious, it is obtained exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Faubourg de l'Abbaye Notre Dame, an exceptional terroir for its particular subsoil and microclimate. Classified as Clos since the 19th century, this property is nestled in the heart of the village of Vertus and is the exclusive "monopole" of the Furny family. It is vinified in small wooden containers and refines for at least a decade in its own cellars before being put on sale. The result is an extraordinary champagne, with truly unique minerality and complexity.
This small maison boasts a remarkable history, in fact it was born back in 1856 and is located in the prestigious Cote de Blancs, in the Premier Cru village of Vertus where today it is managed by two brothers, Charles-Henry and Emmanuel.
The vineyards of the nearly nine hectares of property are meticulously cultivated (the company received the HVE level 3 environmental certification in 2020) and each plot is vinified separately. The soil of Vertus is extraordinarily chalky and the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are enriched with a unique minerality.
